Deepika calls off her relationship with Yuvraj Singh

Bollywood’s much demanded actress Deepika Padukone has a lot of admirers from the film industry as well as from the cricket fraternity. Her close relationship with bunch of people always makes news round the corner. The latest about Deepika is that she has at last called off her relationship with cricketer Yuvraj Singh.

The prime reason of their split up is Yuvi’s domineering attitude. Yuvi was over possessive about her and always told Deepika what to wear and whom to meet. He is even upset with the rumor of her link up with Ranbir Kapoor. After the success of Om Shanti Om, Deepika is very busy with her work, signing films and meeting directors that she wasn't able to find time to meet Yuvi.

Deepika has was very with Yuvi’s control over her life. When she left for Australia with Ranbir to shoot for Yashraj Films, Yuvi kept calling her but she did not pick up his calls. On returning from Australia, she has called off her relationship with Yuvi and moved out with Ranbir. Both were seen holding hands at Farah and Aqueel’s party after the Filmfare Award night. Model Nihar Pandya, cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh are now counted amongst her ex and Ranbir Kapoor is the present man in her life. Hope, Deepika finds her love in Ranbir.

Yuvraj Singh Dating Deepika Padukone

The world may be speculating about a Deepika-Dhoni romance, but looks like the actress is more interested in Yuvraj Singh! According to the grapevine Yuvraj and Deepika were spotted together in China House at the Grand Hyatt (Vakola) late on Saturday night. Deepika has previously dated model Nihar Pandya and was also linked to Ranbir Kapoor. Must say the girl is keeping busy in Bollywood!

Yuvi in Twenty 20

Yuvraj Singh wins ICC Twenty20 International Performance of the Year 2008

Sports Desk
India’s flamboyant batsman Yuvraj Singh became the inaugural winner of the Twenty20 International Performance of the Year Award in recognition of his amazing six sixes in one over during the ICC World Twenty20 2007 in South Africa.

This new award highlights the most impressive performances by players in Twenty20 Internationals during the 12-month voting period and it marks the advent of this exciting new format of the game at international level.

On 19 September last during a match against England in Durban, Yuvraj smashed every delivery of the 19th over beyond the boundary rope, in the process registering a 12-ball half-century and putting his team on course for victory.

It was the first time a player had hit six sixes in a single Twenty20 International over. Herschelle Gibbs did it in an ODI during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 in the West Indies while Garry Sobers became the first batsman to achieve the feat during a first-class match back in 1968.

According to the LG ICC Awards Voting Academy Yuvraj’s effort was the most impressive performance of the past 12 months. It beat off competition from his team-mate Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who led his team to victory at the ICC World Twenty20 2007 in South Africa; Chris Gayle of the West Indies, who scored 117 off just 57 balls against host team South Africa in the opening match of the same tournament in Johannesburg; and Australia’s Brett Lee, who became the first bowler to take a hat-trick in the event against Bangladesh in Cape Town.

After collecting his award from ICC World Cup winning captain for Sri Lanka Arjuna Ranatunga, Yuvraj said: “For me it was very important just to get nominated. There were other great performances during the past year. For example Chris Gayle’s innings in the World Twenty20 was fantastic. I am very happy to collect this award and I would like to congratulate the other players who were nominated alongside me.

“It’s very important for any player to get his performance recognised. You play hard and you like to think people see that and get something out of it. I would like to thank the ICC for recognising the performances of the players – it’s an important aspect of the year for us.

“After the fifth six in that over I remember having butterflies in my stomach and I knew that if I managed to hit it for six it would be very special. It was a great feeling when I saw the ball go over the boundary.”

The Twenty20 International Performance of the Year Award was one of eight individual prizes given at this year’s LG ICC Awards.

The LG ICC Awards 2008 – presented in association with FICA – are based on the 12 months between 9 August 2007 and 12 August 2008. The LG ICC Awards ceremony is now in its fifth year and this is the first time it has been staged in Dubai, the home of the International Cricket Council. Previous ceremonies were held in London (2004), Sydney (2005), Mumbai (2006) and Johannesburg (2007).

County cricket

After the 2003 Cricket World Cup, Yuvraj was signed by Yorkshire, becoming only the second Indian after Tendulkar to represent the county.[3] However, he had a disappointing run, scoring less than 200 runs in either form of the game,[4] but described it as an important learning experience.

Commercial interests

Yuvraj was signed by Microsoft to be a brand ambassador for the Xbox 360 video game console when it was launched in India in 2006. He appeared in advertisements for the console alongside Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar. Codemasters' cricket video game Brian Lara International Cricket 2007, was released with his endorsement in India, titled "Yuvraj Singh International Cricket 2007"

Career

Early career

Yuvraj first came to attention when he captained the U-19 Punjab cricket team in the final of the Cooch-Behar Trophy against Bihar U-19s, in which he scored 358.[2] He then gained selection for the U-19 World Cup in Sri Lanka in January 2000, where he was part of a team lead by Mohammed Kaif which won the tournament. Yuvraj was subsequently selected in 2000 for the first intake of the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore.

ODI career

Yuvraj made his One Day International debut against Kenya at Nairobi in 2000, at the ICC KnockOut Trophy. He showed his potential in his second ODI which was against the Australians where he scored a quickfire 84 off 82 balls against a quality pace attack consisting of bowlers like Glenn McGrath, Brett Lee and Jason Gillespie. However, after a lean run of form, he was dropped for the one-dayers against Australia in India in early 2001, but returned later in the year and helped India to victory in a match in Sri Lanka with an unbeaten 98.

One of his most memorable innings was a partnership with Mohammad Kaif in the NatWest Series final against England in July 2002 which led India to victory. He was selected and represented India at the 2003 Cricket World Cup. He scored his first century in his fourth season with the Indian team against Bangladesh in 2003. After that he also scored hundreds against Zimbabwe and Australia, including a 139 off 119 balls at the Sydney Cricket Ground. In the Indian Oil Cup 2005, he made 110 (off 114 balls) (his third century) and an important partnership worth 165 runs with Mohammad Kaif, to become the man of the match against West Indies in the last match of the round robin league. After reaching his century, he attracted attention by angry gesticulations to the Indian dressing room, which was postulated to be due to his clashes with team management - Greg Chappell had been appointed as the new Indian coach and he had criticised Yuvraj. He later praised Chappell's techniques.

Profile
At 19, Yuvraj is already an all rounder who has proven himself. One need look no further than his performance in the domestic youth competitions and in the Under-19 World Cup in Sri Lanka. In the final of the Cooch Behar Trophy in the 1999-2000 season, Yuvraj made 358 against Bihar. Any batsman who has the ability to play an innings of that length is bound to be a force to reckon with. Following that performance up with what was an extremely successful World Cup in Sri Lanka, Yuvraj caught the eye of many a cricket pundit. He was named player of the series for scoring heavily through the World Cup, including a tremendous half century that came off just 20 balls in the semifinals against Australia.
